ABOUT US
Todd Murphy
My name is Todd Murphy. I’m a Behavioral Neuroscientist associated with Dr. Michael Persinger, and a member of his research group since 1998.
Most of my ideas and publications are based on his work, although my emphasis is on the spiritual aspects of neuroscience, and like all researchers, I see things through my own eyes.
My main interest is in understanding how the brain contributes to mystic, religious, and spiritual experiences, and the origins and cultural roles of religion. Unlike many of my colleagues, I am not closed to psychic phenomena, tales of miracles, visitations by angels, and other experiences. I accept that these are real experiences, even though I may not be able to accept many of the traditional explanations for them.
I’m the developer of the Shiva and Shakti Neural Simulation Systems, based on Dr. Michael Persinger’s original laboratory equipment, as well as the PC-based God Helmet.
I’ve had a website continuously since 1999, and first began making complex magnetic neural stimulation systems for the public in the year 2001.
I have a nine-hour video lecture series on YouTube, covering many aspects of the brain’s role in religious and mystic experiences.
I’ve been a member of the Laurentian University Neuroscience Program since 1998.
