Shakti Sessions Make Use Of A Wave form derived from the Amygdala.

Unless your Amygdala is 'Reversed', you will only receive the 'Amygdaloid' wave form on the left side.

This side of this animation tells you about specific functions of the Amygdala, and gives a scientific reference for it.

Each frame takes 7 seconds.

This side of the animation refers to possible effects of a series of sessions, and some of the possible metabolic snapback effects that might come up during the second to fifth weeks of a series.

This DOES NOT apply to the effects of individual sessions. Only series of sessions.

Question:

What does the Amygdala do?

Answer:

A LOT of things. Here are some of them:

On the right, it supports the experience of fear.

(Including in response to magnetic stimulation)

Richards, P.M., Koren, S.A., & Persinger, M. A., "Experimental Stimulation by Burst-Firing Weak Magnetic Fields Over the Right Temporal lobe May Facilitate Apprehension in women." Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1992, 75, 667-670

Shakti will not apply an amygdaloid wave form over your right side.

(Unless, of course, you have a 'reversed' amygdala.)

On the left, it supports the experience of euphoria.

(Including in response to magnetic stimulation)

Persinger
, M.A. "Vectorial Cerebral Hemisphericity as Differential sources For the Sensed Presence, Mystical Experiences and Religious Conversions." Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1993, 76, (915-930)

Possible Long-term Effect:

You could be less likely to respond to events with negative emotions, and to feel positive emotions more often.

Possible Temporary "Metabolic Springback" effect:

If you do a series of sessions, you may have bursts of anxiety as you brain re-adjusts itself to your new amygdaloid levels.

It helps us to recognize what others are feeling.

Possible Long-term Effect:

Your sessions could enhance your intuitive ability to 'read' others. This is very close to the development of psychic skills, of the kind that spiritual counselors often have. No promises, of course.

Possible Temporary "Metabolic Springback" effect:

You might find your self wanting to avoid people who are in a bad mood, even those whose moods never affected you before.

It supports the 'sensed presence' experience.

When it appears through RIGHT amygdaloid magnetic stimulation, it's a negative experience.

M.A. "Sense of a presence and Suicidal ideation Following Traumatic Brain Injury: Indications of Right-Hemispheric Intrusions From Neuropsychological Profiles" Psychological Reports, 1994, 75, 1059-1070

Typically, Shakti will NOT apply an amygdaloid wave form over the right amygdala.

It supports the 'sensed presence' experience.

When it appears through LEFT amygdaloid magnetic stimulation, it's a positive experience.

Persinger,
M.A. "Sense of a presence and Suicidal ideation Following traumatic Brain Injury: Indications of Right-Hemispheric Intrusions From Neuropsychological Profiles" Psychological Reports, 1994, 75, 1059-1070

Possible Long-term Effect: Your sessions could bring you closer to the experience of a 'higher power', or possibly a visitation experience of some kind. It might enhance your emotional connection to others. The theme is one of self-and-other. You might feel more 'connected' with others.

Possible Temporary "Metabolic Springback" effect:

If you do a series of sessions, you might find yourself feeling anxious or irritable when relating to people you find stressful as your brain adjusts to new levels of amygdaloid activity.

It helps us to see which direction other people are looking in.

Possible Long-term Effect:

None known for this function

Possible Temporary "Metabolic Springback" effect:

None known at this time

It helps us to recognize other people's intentions, emotions, and mood.

It communicates with our sense of our own bodies so that our bodies get tense when we feel negative emotions, and relax when we feel good.

Via the
Basal Ganglia

Possible Long-term Effect:

You might find yourself carrying less tension in your body, and less likely to startle. You might find yourself more aware of how your body responds to each emotion, and less likely to 'think' in response to them.

Possible Temporary "Metabolic Springback" effect:

You might find that you have moments where your emotions are either making your body more tense than before, or that you are more aware of it than before.

It helps us to perceive other's emotions using all of our sensory modalities

Possible Long-term Effect:

You might find your self feeling more empathy with others.

Possible Temporary "Metabolic Springback" effect:

If you do a series of sessions, you might find yourself feeling anxious or irritable when relating to people you find stressful as your brain adjusts to new levels of amygdaloid activity.

It has to do with maintaing our state of relaxation and stress.

Unpublished evidence.

It can be hard to get to sleep the first night, the first time you use Shakti. Later session reports have not included sleepelessness. It seem to happen only once, and then only to about 10% of shakti users.

Later sessions have elicited reports of lucid dreaming, and enhanced dream recall .

No long-term effects or Snapback have occured related to this phenomena.

What the Amygdala DOESN'T do.

(There are some misconceptions about the amygdala and the limbic system)

"Reports that Temporal Lobe Epileptics are Hyperaggressive have been widely accepted because they are consistent with lesion studies that the amygdala..... plays a role in promoting aggressive behavior. However, several studies have failed to observe any relation between temporal-lobe epilepsy and aggression"

Pinel,
John, P.J. Biopsychology Allen and Bacon publ., 1990 348-349

Someone even made a horror movie with a temporal lobe epileptic as the bad guy!
