PUTTING THE COILS ON YOUR HEAD

[template id=”3560″]The Shiva software has detailed instructions for putting on the coils. These are not available in this online demo.

The illustration above shows the basic layout: 8 pairs of coils, equally spaced around the head, so the software can circle magnetic fields around it.

One of the more common questions is about polarities, meaning which end of the coils (north or south) should face the head, so here is the basic information.

POLARITY

The poles of the coils (north and south or positive and negative) can be set in one of two ways – to attract each other or to repel each other. You don’t need to worry about which end is north and which is south, only whether they are opposite or not.

This is a pair of coils with opposite polarities. This arrangement leaves the fields from the two coils attracting one another.

The fields will be stronger, but they’ll much lower field strength deeper in the brain, so that this arrangement will elicit primarily surface (cortical) response, though the signals derived from the limbic system will continue to elicit responses from deeper in the brain.

Here is a pair of coils with like polarities. This arrangement leaves the fields from the two coils repelling each other. This one has been extensively in laboratory experiments.

The fields will be weaker, but will still maintain an effective field strength deeper in the brain.

This arrangement will elicit more limbic (deep brain) response.  Although like polarities were used in the crucial studies with this technology, both configurations have their merits. Until reports from Shiva users or laboratory studies give us some specific idea, polarities are a matter of personal preference and experimentation.
