Shakti does not diagnose or treat medical disorders
Shakti has predictable side-effects when used in a series of weekly sessions.
These are temporary, and they come from a process called "metabolic snapback". Not all participants experience it. In fact, it's became less common since the Shakti CD was upgraded late in 2001. Click HERE to learn about a newer schedule that should bypass 'snapback' altogether.
A series of weekly sessions lasts six weeks.
Each session is 30 minutes.
During a session, two of your brain parts are stimulated to increase their activity.
The effects of a single session typically last about four (4) days.
After the four days, the brain tries to re-establish it's old, patterns of responses in these brain parts. It does this by activating the same structures on the opposite side.
While that's happening, if it happens at all, you feel can feel bad. I call this 'being in snapback" (based on the phrase "Metabolic Snapback". Most people do not experience it (less than 10%). Typically, it emerges as episodes of anxiety or irritability.
For some people, it's intense, and for others, it's hardly noticeable.
When it happens, it starts four (4) days after a session. For others, it starts almost right away. For still others, it doesn't seem to happen at all. Click HERE to see a map of typical weekly sessions
If snapback happens sooner than four days after a session, you should use alternative session designs.
If you choose to obtain a Shakti Helmet, you'll need to answer some questions that will help me design alternatives for you, should they be necessary (over 90% use the standard session designs)
I use rules of thumb at present. With more research, we may be able to predict these things with more certainty.
